No Letter Today
Florence E. Stiff
No letter today dear, how long can this last?
It just seems like ages and ages have past,
Since I've heard from you dear in that distant land,
And read the dear writing, wrote by your dear hand.
This morning I waited and watched just to see
If there could be just one letter for me,
The postman passed by dear, all he could say,
Was no one has wrote you a letter today.
So I'll keep on waiting and watching the same
Until one comes written and signed with your name
The writing must be yours dear, no other will do
And I'll keep on praying 'till I hear from you.
No letter today dear, no letter all week
With tears in my eyes and words I can't speak,
The postman passed by dear and all he did say
Was your boy has not wrote you a letter today.
