| David Matthew “Matt” Stiff died at age 57 on Dec. 23, 2025 in Owensboro, Kentucky. Matt was born in Owensboro, July 10, 1968, where he grew up and lived most of his life. He sang beautifully, enjoyed basketball with his brothers, camping, fishing and raising chickens. He enjoyed gardening, baking and sharing his bounty with others. His greatest love was family and friends. Matt graduated from Owensboro Catholic High in May of 1986. When he was grown, he spent a short time running phone lines in New York. He worked with a longtime friend, Danny Osborne, in many business endeavors including The Money Tree, a pet store/tropical fish business and a collectible comic books store. Additionally, he worked on vehicles for some of the businesses. Most recently, Matt managed the Book and Music Exchange with the same lifelong friend. Among Matt’s many positive attributes were his selflessness and generous nature. It has been said by many that “Matt improved the life of each person with whom he came into contact”. Matt is survived by his mother, Rita Stiff and siblings: Lowell Richard (Rick) Stiff, Jr. (Karen), Valerie Webb (Mike), Perry (Debbie) Stiff, Scott (Kathy) Stiff, Felecia Stiff, Keith (Rae) Stiff, Kevin (Carolyn) Stiff, Mark Stiff, Brian (Cindy) Stiff, Chris (Erin) Stiff, Monica (Steve) Scott, his partner Kara Brooks and children, Talon Rosenblatt and Jackson Rosenblatt. Matt had many nieces and nephews. Matt was preceded in death by his father, Lowell “Richard” Stiff, Sr.; his niece Summer Rose Stiff; and Great Niece, Isla Mae Stiff. A funeral mass was held at Sts. Joseph and Paul at 11 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2026. 514 East 4th Street, Owensboro, KY. Burial will take place at a later date. |
